This Utilities Company is a wholesale electric power supplier owned by the 43 electric cooperatives that it serves. The company generates and transmits electricity to its member systems throughout a 200,000 square-mile service territory across Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico and Wyoming.
The Utilities Company was an older version of Oracle E*Business Suite that was nearing the end of its support period. The organization used this as an opportunity to identify and select a new technology solution, that could provide additional functionality and help to standardize back-office business processes / leverage best practice.
A 12-week project was completed to address the client’s needs. The team held 21 workshops, with 40+ stakeholders across all Finance, HR and Supply Chain processes to perform a maturity assessment and identify improvement opportunities. A future state solution architecture was completed as well as an operating model assessment to determine what new capabilities would be required after moving from on-premises to cloud-based software. The team also provided guidance during a vendor RFP, including scoring frameworks, documenting / logistical best practices and a business case template to compare cost / benefit from each respondent.
